EU Commissioner for Enlargement: We will give Albania 1 billion euros

European Union Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, at a press conference with Prime Minister Edi Ramau, stated that Albania is an island of stability and a champion of regional cooperation.
"Your country has progressed very well towards the EU. Geopolitics shows us that anything is possible and your path towards the EU is safe and real. I like meeting you and the Chief Negotiator and I see that you are so passionate about your country and the EU. I came to show you my full support for your objectives. We are on the right track, on the right track because group chapters 2-3 and others have been opened and it is not about opening these group chapters, but also closing them. We very much want Albania to become part of the EU, you deserve it. With you, Europe will not be bigger but it will be stronger. You are an island of stability. You have good neighborly relations in the region. You are a champion for regional cooperation."
According to her, two agreements are being ratified today that will pave the way for the granting of 1 billion euros to Albania in the form of loans and grants.
"You are aligned with the EU's foreign and security policy. Today we will have the ratification of 2 agreements so that we can give Albania 1 billion euros, part in loans, part in grants to carry out the necessary reforms and for you to become ready to be a member state. I was impressed by your hospitality and kindness. The way you welcomed the College of Europe. The EP has decided to open a regional office in Tirana. You have been successful. Focus on implementing and accelerating reforms."
