Salianji remains in prison, the Supreme Court rejects the former MP's appeal

The Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of former Democratic Party MP Ervin Salianji. The latter opposed the Court of Appeal's decision to sentence him to 1 year in prison.
"Rejection of the appeals filed by the defendants Jetmir Olldashi and Ervin Salianji, against decision no. 2059/30-2024-6822, dated 26.09.2024, of the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction," the Supreme Court's announcement states.
On October 15, 2024, the Supreme Court rejected Salijanj's request for the suspension of the 1-year prison sentence by the Appeals Court. The former Democratic MP was sentenced to one year in prison for the "Babale" case.
The first instance court ruled that Salianji should be convicted of false reporting, in connection with a denunciation he made about the brother of former Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafa, Agron Xhafa. In the audio recording that Salianji released, it was stated that Agron Xhafa was part of a criminal network of narcotics trafficking.
