From May, Skype will no longer be used at Microsoft

Microsoft will officially phase out Skype in May, directing users to "migrate" to Teams for chatting.

Skype, launched in 2003 and acquired by Microsoft in 2011, faced a turbulent journey, with numerous redesigns and integration efforts.

Despite expectations of an earlier shutdown—especially after the 2017 launch of Teams—Skype continued with occasional updates.

However, with the dominance of FaceTime, Google's own and Microsoft's own messaging apps, Skype's demise was inevitable. Microsoft has yet to make an official statement about the shutdown, but the news has been circulating.
