Albanians most afraid of Artificial Intelligence in the region

Artificial intelligence is increasing its use among the population day by day, but Albanians are the most fearful in the Region in relation to the long-term effects of its use on the economy.
The “Security Meter” survey conducted by the Regional Cooperation Council in six countries found that 46 percent of Albanians thought that Artificial Intelligence would harm people (the economy) the most in the next 20 years, the highest percentage in the Region. Serbs and Bosniaks were also concerned about this fact, with 45 and 44 percent of respondents, respectively, thinking that the use of artificial intelligence would be harmful.
On the other hand, Albania also has the highest percentage of people who think AI helps them. The survey found that 24% of Albanians think that intelligence helps them.
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) could have negative effects on the Albanian economy. AI can automate processes and tasks, reducing the need for labor in various industries, such as services, manufacturing, and public administration.
Also, the use of AI may favor those businesses that have more access to technology and capital, creating greater inequalities between large and small businesses, as well as between different social groups.
Due to a lack of investment in technology education and training, many individuals and companies in our country may be left behind, unable to benefit from AI.
Implementing AI requires large initial investments in technological infrastructure, training, and maintenance, which can be difficult for a developing economy like Albania.
Industry and sectors that rely on traditional skills, such as crafts and agriculture, may feel threatened by new technologies, losing their cultural and economic importance. If Albania does not develop its own capacities in AI, it may become dependent on foreign technologies and companies, reducing control over the national economy.
On the other hand, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) also brings a number of benefits that can help modernize and improve many sectors.
AI can help automate repetitive processes and tasks, reducing production time and costs. This allows businesses to be more efficient and competitive in the marketplace.
In public sectors, such as healthcare, education and administration, AI can help digitize processes, reduce bureaucracy and provide faster and better services to citizens. With the help of advanced data analytics, AI can provide valuable insights for businesses and government, improving planning and decision-making in various areas.
The adoption of AI can also foster the development of new economic sectors, such as information technology, digital startups, and application development, creating new jobs and investment opportunities.
