Why those born between 1981 - 1996 are aging more slowly

Recently, there has been a discussion on the Internet about how millennials do not look their age.

How is it that 'Bridgerton' star Nicola Coughlan is 37 but really looks 19, the age of her character Penelope Featherington on the show?

How is it that people born in 1993 are now the same age as George Costanza in the first season of 'Seinfeld' - 31 - while looking about a decade younger?

What is interesting is that this discussion has been raised by Gen Z, the generation born after 1997. They say they feel like they're getting old, but they marvel at the generation ahead of them.

'We live in a time where millennials look much younger for their age while Gen Z looks much older for their age,' said TikTok influencer Jordan Howlett, 27, in a viral video with over 24.8 million views views.

'I'm Gen Z and nobody ever believes me,' said Howlett. "When my mother and I go out in public, people think my mother is my younger sister."

He blames premature aging for the work and economic difficulties that afflict his generation.

But what could be the reasons that look younger?

There's a key element missing from the conversation about the different aging experiences between the 28- to 43-year-old group and Gen Z (a group that includes ages 12 to 27): Millennials, by and large, were the first generation to embrace SPF and avoid smoking, while some in Gen Z are doing the opposite.

'Millennials have finally embraced the wisdom and mistakes of the generations before them,' said Dr. Anthony Rossi, a dermatologist.

Millennials may have lived in the golden age of sugary drinks growing up, but now they've firmly grasped the water bottle.

And, of course, many people in this age group are slowing the aging process with fillers and botox.

Gez Z can also take care of himself, but there are many cases where he gets information about sunscreen for example on TikTok, where it is not the right place.
