The family of Alain Delon did not fulfill the last wish of the actor

Alain Delon's family has refused to honor the late actor's wish to kill his dog so he could be buried with him.

The French actor died on Sunday at the age of 88. He had previously stated that he wanted to share a grave with his 10-year-old Belgian Malinois.

Delon told Paris Match in 2018 about his "special relationship" with Loubo and declared: "If I die before him, I'll ask the vet to put us together. He will put him to sleep in my arms. I would rather do that than know that he will die in my grave with so much suffering.”

"He's my dog at the end of his life ... I love him like a child," Delon said. "I've had 50 dogs in my life, but I have a special relationship with this one. I miss him when I'm not there."

But the dog Loubo has avoided euthanasia after the reaction of animal rights activists in France.

They said they condemn Delon's desire to euthanize his dog.

"I just got on the phone with Anouchka Delon and she told me that Loubo is part of the family and will be kept," said a spokesperson for the foundation. "An animal's life should not be conditional on a human's," they added.
