'Brad Pitt' fake deceives 2 women and 300 thousand euros were stolen from him
Spanish police have arrested five people accused of defrauding two women by posing as Hollywood star Brad Pitt.
The suspects contacted the women on a website for the actor's fans and led them to believe they "had a romantic relationship with him". According to the Spanish police, the 5 people in question managed to take 150,000 euros from each of the women.
According to the fraudsters, the money would go to various projects undertaken by the actor, but which in reality did not exist.
"Cybercriminals, in order to catch the victims, had studied their social networks and made a psychological profile of them, revealing that both women were two vulnerable people, lacking affection and in a state of depression," said the police.
"They also used instant messaging platforms to exchange messages and emails with the two women until they reached a point where they believed they were chatting on WhatsApp with Brad Pitt himself, who promised them a romantic relationship and a future together ".
Police arrested five people in the southern region of Andalusia, including the group's suspected leaders.
Officers were able to recover €85,000 taken from the two women.
