Albania has started preparations for the world's largest fair for tourism, "ITB - Berlin", where it has been invited to participate as the host country in the 2025 edition that takes place from March 5 to 7 in Germany. To talk about the steps of cooperation in the function of the fair, the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, hosted the CEO of the Berlin Fair Center, Mario Tobias, as well as the head of "ITB Berlin", Deborah Rothe.
Veliaj said that thanks to the work of the government, the municipality and the Ministry of Tourism, today Tirana is a tourist destination 365 days a year. According to him, participation in this fair is an extraordinary evaluation and promotion for touristic Albania. "We want to do our part as a city, which thanks to the work of the Government and the Ministry of Tourism, today has 365 days of tourism. This has brought a lot of money into the economy, it has increased the value of property, it has brought a lot of reputation, but on the other hand it has its own challenges because there is more waste being produced, there is more traffic, although these are first world challenges. , not of the third world", said Veliaj.
The Mayor underlined that tourism should always be seen as an opportunity and this is a very good moment for Albania. "You have given us an extraordinary opportunity. Thanks to the insistence of Minister Kumbaro, to be the host country at the international tourism fair in Berlin, this is also a fantastic opportunity to learn what does not work in other cities, so that we do not make those mistakes. The fact that today we are discussing these problems means that it is a good moment for Albania and a good moment for Tirana. I look forward to seeing you in Berlin," he said.
Appreciating the colorful tourism of our country, the CEO of the Berlin Fairs Center, Mario Tobias, said that "ITB Berlin", one of the most important events in the tourism sector, aims to promote Albania in the international arena.
"We are very happy to be here and we greatly appreciate the invitation of Tirana, of the mayor, but also of the Albanian government. We look forward to Albania being the 2025 host country for the world's largest trade fair in terms of travel and tourism, which is ITB in Berlin. And the host country, Albania, will do very well because it has a lot to show, from the coastline to the ancient cities, from the landscapes to your culinary experience. There are about 170 or 180 countries exhibiting at ITB Berlin, but there is only one host country and that will be Albania next year. We are very much looking forward to this cooperation", he added.
