Veliaj accuses prosecutor Dado: He found me guilty before the trial process

Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj has once again leveled accusations against prosecutor Ols Dado, saying that his file stated "Erion Veliaj is 'convicted'" without the trial process having begun.

Veliaj's post

The making of a fool 1

I cannot help but talk about a serious scandal that I discovered yesterday in the courtroom, written in black and white, right on the first page of the indictment drafted with great diligence by prosecutor Ols Dado.

I was informed that in all the media outlets of the DP it was published that in my file the prosecutor had written: "Erion Veliaj is "convicted", with the note "according to the Electronic Certificate of judicial status No. 5488 Prot., dated 23.01.2025 generated by the investigator of the National Bureau of Investigation, which is located in file 63"."

When I learned about it, this detail shocked me personally, just as it may have shocked quite a few other people because my criminal record is clean.

Yesterday in the courtroom, only after I declared that I am unconvicted and, as the mayor of Tirana, elected by vote 3 times in a row by my citizens, I filled out the decriminalization form, prosecutor Ols Dado was forced to verify this with a phone call, (since apparently, in his mind I am already a convicted person), and tried to pass over this scandal, saying that it is simply a 'slip' made by the writers of my file.

So, on the first page of the indictment filed against me, a Freudian slip of the tongue was mistakenly made by the prosecutor drafting the file, which was both serious and ridiculous.

But how can a slip be made in an investigative file? How can people's lives be played with by dismissing it with the words "it was a slip"?

This 'slip', it's not just a slip! It's a huge shadow of doubt over everything that has been cooked up against me and my wife.

It is now clear the seriousness with which the investigations against my family and person have been conducted: at the very least, there are gross errors in my file, like the one on the front page, which I will publish one by one for the public and the citizens of Tirana; but, I also reserve my doubts about the hasty desire of prosecutor Ols Dado to declare me guilty before the trial process has even begun.
