Donald Trump's Gaza scheme may be inspired by a report by an American-Israeli academic.
Trump administration aides spent the week trying to backtrack on some of the elements of the Gaza proposal after the international backlash to Trump's statements, but the US president is continuing his statements, calling it a "beautiful real estate plan" and a "development for the future."
Pelzman, an American-Israeli academic who previously worked with the USAID agency on economic development in China, explained that his plan for Gaza "requires the country to be completely emptied. I mean, literally completely emptied to be dug up from scratch," he said.
