Pope Francis in intensive care! Doctors continue treatment for pneumonia

Pope Francis remains under close medical supervision after suffering two acute respiratory crises on Monday, according to a statement from the Vatican. He remains alert, conscious and cooperating with the medical team as treatment for pneumonia continues.
The head of the Catholic Church, who is being treated at the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome, has been placed back on non-invasive mechanical ventilation to help him breathe. Doctors managed to clear his lungs of excess secretions using a tube with a camera and an aspirator, a crucial procedure to prevent his condition from worsening.
Laboratory tests have not revealed any new infections, and according to the Vatican, the accumulation of mucus is a normal reaction of the body to pneumonia and not a sign of another health problem. However, despite these improvements, the Pope's condition remains delicate and requires constant attention.
Pope Francis, 88, who uses a wheelchair due to physical limitations, has a long history of respiratory problems. He lost part of his lung when he was young and is currently undergoing physiotherapy sessions to improve his lung function. However, muscle weakness makes it more difficult to clear secretions, which adds to the complexity of treatment.
Despite the challenges, the medical team is continuing treatment with dedication, while believers around the world continue to pray for the Pope's health.
