More than 510,000 passengers have been affected by a 24-hour strike at ten German airports. The strike began at midnight. More than 3,400 flights are expected to be canceled within 24 hours at the airports of Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Bonn/Cologne, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Bremen and Hamburg.
At Germany's largest airport, Frankfurt, it is estimated that approximately 150,000 passengers will not be able to travel. This strike also applies to transit flights.
Unionists are demanding an 8% wage increase and at least 350 euros more monthly income, higher bonuses for working during periods of pressure and three additional days off. Employers have so far rejected their demands.
