Actress Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her roles in the series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Gossip Girl," has died at the age of 39.
According to police sources, Trachtenberg was found dead on Wednesday morning in her New York City apartment. It was her mother who discovered the actress's body.
Sources said Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant and may have had complications after the surgery. However, it is believed she died of natural causes and no foul play is suspected. The medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
Born in New York City, Trachtenberg began her acting career as a child, starring in Nickelodeon projects including the series “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” and the film “Harriet the Spy.”
