British scientists are developing a vaccine against ovarian cancer

Scientists in Great Britain are developing the world's first vaccine against ovarian cancer.

This vaccine may work similarly to the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.

The vaccine called OvarianVax teaches the immune system to recognize an attack on the body in the earliest stages of ovarian cancer.

After trials and tests in the laboratory, they will be able to move on to clinical trials of people who have the BRCA gene mutation that drastically increases the risk of developing ovarian cancer.

Cancer Research UK will fund this research with £600,000 over the next three years.

The main researcher of the project, Professor Ahmed Ahmed, said that the treatment of ovarian cancer is absolutely possible and that this is the goal of the project.
