Trump nominated for 2025 Nobel Peace Prize

The Norwegian Nobel Institute has announced that 338 nominations have been submitted for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, of which 244 are individuals and 94 are organizations. This figure represents an increase compared to the 286 nominations last year, but remains lower than the record of 376 nominations in 2016.

Among the most prominent nominees is former US President Donald Trump, nominated by Republican Congressman Darrell Issa. In a post on the X platform, Issa said that “no one deserves this award more than President Trump,” citing his efforts to broker peace in the Middle East.

Also, Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Mereshko had submitted the proposal to Trump in November of last year, in an attempt to attract the former president's attention after his success in the US elections.

Meanwhile, last year's winner was the Japanese organization Nihon Hidankyo, which represents survivors of the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize is expected to bring a strong competition among prominent world figures, reflecting their impact on global efforts for stability and harmony.
