Krystena Murray, a woman from the US, gave birth to a baby boy without knowing he was not biologically hers. She became pregnant after IVF treatment at a clinic, but after the birth it was discovered that the embryo she had kept belonged to another couple. The boy was of a different ethnicity than her and the sperm donor she had chosen.
Despite this mistake, Krystena decided to keep the baby and raised it for several months until the biological parents gained custody. She has now launched legal proceedings against the IVF clinic for this mix-up.
The IVF clinic has apologized for the error.
