Zelensky speaks about meeting with Trump: Ukraine is ready for talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine is ready to work for a lasting peace and accept a ceasefire, provided that Russia shows the same willingness. In a post on the X platform, Zelensky said that his country is ready to sit down for talks to stop the war and build a more secure future.

Volodymyr Zelensky's post on X

"I would like to reiterate Ukraine's commitment to peace. None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer."

No one wants peace more than the Ukrainians. My team and I are ready to work under the strong leadership of President Trump to achieve a peace that lasts. We are ready to work quickly to end the war, and the first steps could be the release of prisoners and a ceasefire in the skies, a ban on missiles, long-range drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure, and a ceasefire at sea immediately, if Russia will do the same.

Then we want to move very quickly through all the next stages and work with the US to agree on a strong final agreement. We really appreciate how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump gave Ukraine Javelins.

We are grateful for this. Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go as it should have. It is a pity that it happened this way. It is time to put things right. We wish that future cooperation and communication will be constructive. Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it at any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step towards greater security and solid security guarantees, and I really hope that it will work effectively.”
