The dismissal of the RTSH Steering Council came after the debate on the procedures followed in the selection of candidacies for the position of RTSH Director General, where 3 out of 5 candidates were disqualified by a majority vote on the grounds that they did not meet the qualification criteria. Meanwhile, five other candidates had previously been disqualified for deficiencies in their application files, leaving only Jetmir Shpuza and Aurora Polo in the race. During this selection process, which was supposed to be by secret ballot, it was discovered that member Mevlan Shanaj had voted from Vietnam. All members of this council were summoned to a hearing at the media commission on February 3, 2025, where they were asked to re-evaluate the 10 candidacies for the position of RTSH Director General.
