Veliaj presents Ermonela Jaho with the 'Clock Tower' as a symbol that it is always time to return to her country
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj hosted the internationally famous Albanian artist, Ermonela Jaho, in a meeting, a few hours before she goes on the stage of the Opera and Ballet Theater to perform for the Albanian public. Giving her the Tirana Clock Tower, Veliaj said that the tower symbolizes that it is always time to return home, and invited the artist to be part of the cultural activities that will culminate next year, when Tirana holds the title Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue.
"We are very grateful for your contribution. You are an ambassador for the country, an image of modern Albania, of Albania that works, of good Albania, of prosperous Albania, of Albania that believes in talent, sweat, and work. I want you with this small symbol of the Clock, which will always show you the exact time in Tirana, to tell yourself that maybe it is always time to return to your heart, to your home. But also to remind you that next year we will be the Mediterranean Capital of Culture, so if you have friends, well-wishers, partners that you would like to invite to do beautiful things in Tirana, we are happy to we help", said Veliaj.
He also gave the good news for all the fans of the artist, who have not been able to find tickets for her concert. Veliaj announced that a stage with a large screen and places to sit will be erected outside the Opera and Ballet Theater to experience the emotions of Ermonela Jaho's performance.
"For all those who may be upset that tonight's dinner concert is sold out, we have good news: We will set up an outdoor stage, with a big screen and chairs, for all those art lovers who would like to enjoy even from outside, the miracle that will be given to us at the Ballet Opera Theater, our beloved, our heart, Ermonela Jaho", he said.
The Albanian artist thanked the mayor for the appreciation. "Thank you! It is one of the most beautiful gifts. Singing in Albania, in my motherland, in this theater where I grew up, where my dream began, I became who I am today, to this country, not only to this theater, I want to return some love and some gratitude from love and the gratitude that this country and every Albanian heart has given me", she said.
