Tirana Walk 2021! The project that brings a pedestrian zone to the former Bllok

The capital is expected to take on a new urban spirit with the "Tirana Walk 2021" project, which aims to turn the former Blloku into a pedestrian-only area.
The transformation includes the main streets of the block: “Ismail Qemali”, “Pjetër Bogdani” and “Brigada VIII”, as well as some refinishing on the surrounding streets, such as “Sami Frashëri” and “Vaso Pasha”. “Brigada VIII” and “Pjetër Bogdani” streets will be freed from side parking, widening the sidewalks to create more space for pedestrians and improve circulation.

“Ismail Qemali” Street will have a bicycle lane and only one parking row on one side, balancing the need for vehicle access with priority for pedestrian and cyclist movement. Safe squares for children and parents will be created in front of educational institutions, reducing traffic risks and facilitating movement.
The project, presented today at Villa 31 in the presence of Prime Minister Edi Rama, is a collaboration between the Municipality of Tirana and the global network "WALK 21".
This project aims to bring citizens back to the center of urban life, making Tirana a greener, safer, and more livable city.
