Rama: Here's why I'm relieved by the defeat of 20 UBT measures

Prime Minister Rama has reacted regarding the decisions taken by the GJKKO regarding the 20 security measures taken at the Agricultural University.

The Prime Minister's reaction

Here's why I'm relieved by the news of the Special Court overturning 20 security measures (out of 24) at the Agricultural University:

1. Justice for the alleged violations of three years ago is neither hindered nor helped by those security measures, while the personal and family lives of anyone who may be completely innocent are turned into a hell of injustice with traumatic consequences.

2. Prosecutors and judges can now do their duty without any change, until the end, and the potential culprits have no chance of escape, if they have touched public funds. But university life is not taken hostage, the reputation of the university is not drowned in media sludge, the psychological stability of the community of lecturers, students, parents is not harmed, while justice continues its work peacefully.

3. The strategic alliance of UBT with BOKU University of Vienna, which was created with a great effort by the government and the ambitious program of radical transformation and recognition of BOKU/UBT2030 diplomas, is no longer threatened by the loss of trust of Austrian partners in the face of the terrifying panorama of 24 security measures, as if it were an operation in the village of Corleone!

We want an uncompromising fight against corruption, merciless punishment for every hand that reaches into the people's pockets, but we also cannot compromise in defense of European democratic norms of justice.

After 100 or so years, we have withdrawn political power from the field of justice and have let the justice system investigate and judge us, like everyone else, if we break the law.

We have handed over the sword of punishment to SPAK. We have entrusted the scales of justice to the Special Court. But prosecutors, and especially judges, must make the bandage of independence and impartiality part of their professional skin without wasting time, in respect of the presumption of innocence, of human rights and freedoms, of the democratic standards of European justice.

Therefore, they should hold their sword high, they have our full support. The scales are theirs, we do not interfere in the internal affairs. But whenever we see their eyes uncovered and even with blood, we will not hesitate to say it publicly.

Albania's new justice 2030 in the EU should be like this statue of Lady Justice. For everyone. Always.
