Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj was arrested this Monday by order of SPAK. The Special Prosecution Office was conducting investigations against Veliaj on several charges, such as abuse of office, active corruption, passive corruption, failure to declare assets and money laundering.
Also, officials of the National Bureau of Investigation have conducted several searches at the business premises of Veliaj's wife, Ajola Xoxaj, and his brother, Arbi Veliaj.
It is learned that the Court has approved the security measure "house arrest" for Veliaj's wife, Ajola Xoxaj.
