Pope Francis, who is being treated at the Gemelli hospital in Rome for double pneumonia, is in a stable condition and spent a quiet night, the Vatican announced on March 2.
"The Pope is continuing to rest and is responding positively to treatment," the Vatican said in its latest update on the health of the 88-year-old leader of the Catholic Church.
Despite the need for oxygen, the Pope is conscious, feverless, and able to eat. His hemodynamic parameters are stable, and tests show no signs of an active infection.
