Serious in Shkodra, 3-year-old child loses life, sister in danger. Suspicions of poisoning by rat poison

A tragic event occurred on Saturday in Shkodra, where a 3-year-old child lost his life at the Regional Hospital after a serious health condition.
The child was presented to the hospital with heart failure, a low pulse, and poor vital signs, but despite medical intervention, he died after 10 minutes.
A little later, his sister arrived at the hospital with similar symptoms and was taken to Tirana's QSUT in critical condition.
According to some unconfirmed sources, toxicological analyses in Tirana have revealed signs of contamination with rat poison, raising suspicions that the poison may have been placed in the apartment by family members against rats, and that children may have accidentally consumed it or come into contact with it.
Police announcement:
On 21.02.2025, citizen SH sent his 2 children, a 7-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy, suspected of having seasonal flu, for treatment to the Pediatrics Department at the Shkodra Regional Hospital. After treatment, citizen SH and the 2 children left for their apartment.
Due to the worsening health condition of the children in the apartment, on 22.02.2025, citizen SH sent the 2 children back for treatment to the Pediatrics Department at the Shkodra Regional Hospital.
Despite medical assistance, the 3-year-old boy lost his life, while the 7-year-old girl was taken to the QSUT for specialized treatment.
Investigations are continuing under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office to determine the cause of the 3-year-old's death.
