Inspecting the works that are nearing completion, the head of the Municipality of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, said that the same method will be followed in casting lots, as in the case of the apartments in the "5 May" area.
He assured that despite the obstacles in court battles by political parties and the problems encountered with blocking the works, the Municipality of Tirana has never stopped the work. "Today is a blessed day because we go from when we used to say 'woe to those who lost their houses in the earthquake' to 'blessed those who will get new houses'. I am grateful to you for your work because I want that, when the citizens return from vacation in September, they will find new schools, new kindergartens, new nurseries, and especially for the citizens of the Combine, we will give these 300 apartments, which will solve most of the problems. of the needy. For all those families who have been waiting for this day for 5 years, we finally have this good news. Of course, we could have had this good news sooner if we hadn't had the problems we have encountered here with the blocking of works, with parties that have taken us to court, while today they no longer exist, have changed their name and become piece by piece", said Veliaj.
He mentioned several cases of public projects and investments, investments blocked by the impasse created by some decision-making institutions in the country. The Mayor made a public appeal to judicial institutions to cooperate in the public interest, to advance the affairs of the city and not to focus on the private interest of some occupiers.
"90% of our cases are with administrative and civil courts. Today we continue to be blocked; so we're finishing construction here, but we haven't started on another section because a judge has issued a work stoppage. Another judge has granted a blocking measure for the plots of the cemetery in Sawrë. The same thing with another judge: one of the builders, who built without permission right on the edge of the lake, went to court and the judge, in the public interest, - of those 250 thousand people who have fun at the Lake Park, which is the lung the most important of Tirana, - and an occupier, has given it to the occupier. If life goes on here, lighting works, security cameras, a flower garden for the elderly, a park for children, and all this is taken care of by a host eye, in order not to allow amortization of water plants, lighting, various utilities, etc., then we have really made a masterpiece. Coexistence is very important and I am convinced that the citizens of the Combine, as they have been supportive and patient in all these vicissitudes that we have gone through, will be cooperative even to find the language and really create a formula for coexistence", he said. the head of the Municipality.
In the area where the new apartments are being built in Kombinat, residential buildings with 6 and 8 floors are planned for the residents affected by the 2019 earthquake, whose apartments have been declared uninhabitable by experts, as well as Administrative and Social facilities. The area will have urban squares interspersed with apartments, pedestrian and bicycle paths. The construction of housing will be intertwined with the construction of educational facilities.
