Pink heart, vibrating face and Wi-Fi symbol coming soon to smartphones

New emojis, including a shaking head, the Wi-Fi symbol and a long-awaited plain pink heart, are coming to smartphones soon.

Emoji reference website Emojipedia has revealed its draft Emoji 15.0 list, showing sample images that visualize what these new emojis might look like.

The new line, which features 31 emojis in total, also includes a pale blue heart and a gray heart, various "stop" (or "high five") hand gestures, a flute, maracas and a hair comb. More animals and plants are also on the list, including a donkey, a goose, jellyfish and ginger.

Each emoji is subject to change before final approval by the Unicode Consortium, the nonprofit body that sets standards for how text is displayed and represented on the Internet.

"However, it's worth noting that most of the draft emoji candidates have ended up included in the final list over the past few years — including every emoji we've seen from last year's Emoji 14.0 draft list ahead of World Emoji Day 2021," Emojipedia said. .

Netizens may be particularly pleased with the inclusion of a pink heart emoji in this year's draft list.

There is currently a red heart, a purple heart, and an orange heart emoji among many other colors, but a pink heart has long been among the most requested emojis by users. Currently there are various fancy heart emojis, such as the gas heart emoji and the growing heart emoji, which are usually depicted in pink - but there is no plain pink heart to match the emoji- t other independent heart.

This now looks set to be included in the next version of Unicode, which is likely to be approved in September this year.

While emoji designs vary by platform, Emojipedia has been providing emoji designs ahead of their official arrival on emoji keyboards for eight years.

Slated for release in September, any emoji project candidates that are approved for final release will come to major platforms between late 2022 and 2023, Emojipedia says.
