NASA's latest spacecraft managed to successfully land on the planet Mars after a journey that began last July. The entry of the 'Perseverance' probe into the Martian atmosphere began at 3:55 pm and successfully passed a process of seven minutes.

During landing NASA did not have the ability to control the probe, but scientists were in contact with the device and took the first image.

Part of the complicated landing process were parachutes, propulsion landings, and a "sky crane," which lowered the probe to the surface of Mars using cable.

Mankind has sent spacecraft to Mars since the 1960s, some successful and some not. Only eight spacecraft have landed on Mars, all from the United States.
