In China, tech workers fear the age of 35

Tens of thousands of jobs have been lost in recent months in China's technology sector. Tech companies have made no secret of their preference for younger, single employees.

According to them, people between 20 and 30 years old are full of energy. They are more willing to go ahead and sacrifice themselves for the company.

While China's labor law prohibits employers from discriminating on grounds such as ethnicity, gender and religion, it makes no reference to age discrimination.

There is a perception that older workers do not keep up with the latest technological developments... and that they are too expensive.
