What is happening with Facebook Instagram and WhatsApp

Facebook week just went from rain to hail.

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp suffered disconnection today, a problem which has not yet been fixed.

The Down Detector tracking site recorded tens of thousands of reports for each of the services. Facebook is inaccessible at all while Instagram and WhatsApp are accessible but could not upload content or send messages.

The reason for the termination was not immediately clear. A company spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CNN Business.

The outage came in the morning "60 Minutes" after the broadcast of a segment in which Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen claimed that the company is aware of how its platforms are used to spread hatred, violence and misinformation, and that Facebook has tried to hide those evidences. Facebook has denied the allegations.

The interview followed weeks of reporting and criticism on Facebook after Haugen released thousands of pages of internal documents to regulators and the Wall Street Journal. Haugen will testify before a Senate subcommittee on Tuesday.

Shares of Facebook fell more than 5% today, putting it at the pace of its worst trading day in nearly a year.
