Towards a smoke-free future! IQOS brings the next innovation
Philip Morris International (PMI) (NYSE: PM) today announced that it will start trading the smoke-free alternative of the company KT&G, lil SOLID 2.0 presented by IQOS in Albania. This announcement is a follow-up to an agreement signed in January 2020 between PMI and KT&G, the leading producer of tobacco and nicotine products in South Korea.
lil SOLID 2.0 is a tobacco heating device, introduced by IQOS, created to offer 3 consecutive uses and 25 cigarettes without recharging. I heat tobacco through the use of an aerosol-releasing needle; without smoke, ash or burning. The lil SOLID 2.0 device will be introduced by IQOS and will complement the existing PMI portfolio of smokeless alternatives that includes the IQOS heating system, device no. 1 in the world  that heats tobacco.

KT&G products such as lil SOLID 2.0, which are distributed in the market by PMI, outside of South Korea, are subject to careful pre-trade controls, in order to ensure that they comply with the requirements of the legislation in the markets that are introduced as well as in accordance with high standards. of PMI scientific certificates confirming the absence of combustion and the significant reduction in the release of harmful chemicals compared to cigarettes.
This important step towards a smoke-free future is based on the other recent achievements of the PMI smoke-free product portfolio. As of June 30, globally there are over 20 million users of the IQOS heating tobacco system and PMI estimates that over 73% (about 14.7 million) of these men and women, have fully switched to IQOS and quit smoking; with a balance in the various stages of transition . Furthermore, on July 7, 2020, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a decision authorizing the marketing of the IQOS Tobacco Heating System as a Reduced-Risk, Reduced Exposure Tobacco Product.
