A seven-year-old boy has died after being suffocated by a balloon. He was at home with his grandmother and was playing with a balloon. After biting him, the crack caused some parts to go into his throat, blocking his airways.
The grandmother, who could not get the pieces of the balloon out of her throat, immediately called the emergency services, who tried to help her by giving her first aid. He was admitted to the hospital in a coma, as the lack of oxygen in the brain had damaged his vital functions, and two days later the doctors pronounced him dead. The Prosecutor's Office of Vicenza assessed the child's death as a fatal accident, with no one responsible.
