Millions of years ago, a two-limbed dinosaur with knives on its toes lived off the coast of the Asian continent. But those weapons like scissors were used to cut vegetation and not animals, according to a new study.
The dinosaurs belonged to a group known as terizinoosaurs - bipedal dinosaurs, mainly herbivores that lived during the Cretaceous period, about 145 million to 66 million years ago.
"[This dinosaur] used its claws as food, instead of aggression, to pull shrubs and trees closer to its mouth to feed," said study co-author Anthony Fiorillo, a research professor at the Department of Earth. Roy M. Huffington.
