How to understand if your child suffers from attention disorder
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, also known as ADHD, is a neurological disorder that affects a person's ability to pay attention.
In children, it can affect the ability to succeed in school or fit into society.
"It is not so easy to diagnose ADHD from a conversation," says Irina Gorelik, a child psychologist.
There are three ways this disorder can present itself:
Hyperactive-impulsive: feels restless and has problems with impulse control
Inattentive: easily distracted
Combination: both of the above types are equally present
Some signs that may be an indication that your child needs treatment:
They have difficulty doing schoolwork
Trouble finishing or starting tasks, especially multi-step tasks
Difficulty following directions
Inability to pass a task.
