Netflix begins measures to stop password sharing

Netflix's password-sharing measures have begun in the US.

The streaming service has begun alerting members to the new sharing policy, noting that Netflix accounts should only be shared within a single household.

"Your Netflix account is for you and the people you live with," the company said in an email, which it posted on its blog on Tuesday.

The email goes on to say that members can pay an additional fee — $7.99 a month — for people outside their household.

Netflix warned it would tighten its password-sharing guidelines in a move to boost revenue and subscriber numbers.
