This is what the first Nutella that celebrates its 57th anniversary looked like

The sweetest cream, liked by big and small celebrates its 57th anniversary. Nutella is one of the most famous Italian products. Every year 365 thousand tons are produced and sold by Ferrero.

But when and how was Nutella born?

It all started at Pietro Ferrero's pastry shop in Langhe, an area known for its hazelnut production.

During World War II, to make up for the lack of cocoa, Ferrero decided to replace it with hazelnuts and sugar, inventing the 'zero' version of what he originally called Giandujiot. The first 300-pound product was sold in 1946 under the name Pasta Gandujiot.

In the immediate post-war period, the Supercrema was born, but the world would have to wait until April 20, 1964 to see the first, true jar of Nutella, whose name was chosen from the English word 'nut', which means hazelnut.

From that moment on it has been a guaranteed success. In a very short time Nutella is one of the most consumed Italian products abroad, and famous, on a par with pastas and pizzas.

Despite the fact that some similar products have been launched by competitors, the original Ferrero brand remains undoubtedly the most popular. So much so that on February 5, 2021, on the occasion of World Nutella Day, in honor of the 75th anniversary of Ferrero's founding, the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance issued a 5 euro coin containing the classic jar on the back and the facade of the Ferrero headquarters at the front.
