META seems to be trying to impose order. The last feature is the option that will force teenagers to close Instagram, not to stay online during the late hours of the night.
The notification will appear if a teenager spends more than 10 minutes on Instagram, either watching stories or in the message box, i.e. talking to someone.
In the announcement issued for this purpose, META explains that the reason why it is doing this is because sleep is very important, especially for young people.
The social media giant has been subject to ongoing scrutiny over the effects of its products on young people. It has been sued by several state attorneys general for the lack of protection for new users.
A group of 33 attorneys general sued Meta in October, accusing him of targeting addiction at children.
