Her story became a documentary on Netflix, the missing girl is found after 5 years

An Illinois girl whose disappearance was featured in the documentary series "Unsolved mysteries" has been found alive in North Carolina. It is suspected that 5 years ago she was kidnapped by her mother.
Kayla Unbehaun, who turned 15 in January, was 9 when she disappeared in 2017 while in the care of her mother, Heather Unbehaun.
Unbehaun, 40, was arrested Saturday in Asheville, North Carolina, on kidnapping charges.
The whole discovery was made by a woman who knew Heather from TV.
"I'm so glad Kayla is home safe. I want to thank the South Elgin Police Department, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and all the law enforcement agencies that helped with her case," said Kayla's father, Ryan Iskerka.
"We ask for privacy as we get to know each other again and navigate this new beginning," he said.
Kayla went missing around July 4, 2017. She was last seen in the care of her mother after a Fourth of July parade in Wheaton, Illinois, according to a GoFundMe page created by Iskerka days after Kayla's disappearance. The custody of the daughter was given to the father at that time.
Iskerka said he was supposed to meet Heather Unbehaun on July 5, 2017, to pick up his daughter, but it never happened.
