Every toy store in California will have a neutral sector

California is the first US state to require retailers to have a neutral sector, ie with toys for both genders. The law was signed Saturday by Governor Gavin Neesom.

The law actually includes not only toys, but also other accessories for children, such as those for sleeping, relaxing, eating, or brushing their teeth.

The goal is to avoid gender bias. Companies that do not comply with the law will face a $ 250 fine for their first violation and $ 500 for subsequent violations. The new law enters into force in 2024.

To avoid feeding stereotypes the toy company Lego also took the decision to eliminate the 'for girls' or 'for boys' labels.
