The Dutch striker retires from football after suffering a heart attack on the pitch
The striker of the Dutch national team, Bas Dost, retired from football at the age of 34, due to health problems with the heart.
Two weeks ago, the striker suffered a heart attack during the NEC-AZ Alkmaar match and managed to escape only thanks to the immediate intervention of the medical staff, who rushed him to the hospital.
Now that he has passed the difficult period, Bas Dost has left the hospital in Amsterdam, however, as a precaution, he has been fitted with an internal defibrillator. After the diagnosis of myocardium, the striker has announced that he will no longer go down to the green field.
"I'm happy to be back home and I'm going to recover now. I want to thank everyone who has supported me during this period," Bas Dost said in a message to the club.
