Men's tennis world champion has a new name
Carlos Alcaraz is the new world tennis champion after defeating Casper Ruud in the US Open final on Sunday.
Alcaraz, 19, beat 23-year-old Ruud 6-3 in a match that lasted more than three hours in New York.
He is the youngest world number one since the ATP rankings began in 1973, breaking the record set by Lleyton Hewitt, who was 20 when he became number one in 2001.
"This is something I've dreamed about since I was a child. To be no. 1 in the world, to be a champion ," Alcaraz said, adding that he thought about some of his family members who couldn't make it to see him play.
