Rafael Nadal has announced this Thursday that he will retire from tennis in 2024, due to physical injuries.
The 14-time winner of Roland Garros and 22-time Grand Slam champion indicated that he will rest for a few months, to see if he can return in 2024, the year which will be the last for him in his career.
"You can imagine how difficult it is for me. It's a decision my body has made," said the 37-year-old from the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca.
"My ambition is to stop to give myself an opportunity to enjoy next year. Next year will probably be the last in my professional competition," added Nadal.
