For the eighth time, Lionel Messi received last night in a special ceremony the Ballon d'Or, the eighth during his career.
The presentation of the winner was made by David Beckham and after taking the floor, Messi thanked his family, fans, teammates, coach and made a special wish.
"Finally, I want to congratulate you. Where better than here would be to say Happy 'Birthday' to Diego. He loved all of this so much. Diego, wherever you are, Happy," said Messi.
Messi left behind Erling Haaland (second place) and Kylian Mbappe (third place).
The ceremony was held in Paris.
