Iranian players and fans refuse to sing the national anthem
The players of the Iranian national team have made a very bold gesture against the government of their country today in the debut match in the world championship in Qatar.
In the match against England they refused to sing their country's national anthem, while some fans in the stands sang the Persian anthem.
An even stronger show of solidarity was developed by Iranian fans who unfurled a banner in the stadium that read: "Woman, Life, Freedom", which comes in support of protests against the violation of women's rights in Iran.
All this has caused the Iranian national television to interrupt for a few moments the live broadcast of the challenge in question, which ended 2-6, but the biggest penalty seems to be that the Iranian team will not have the result.
