The Albanian Olympic Committee will have its new home in the Olympic Park

The offices of the Albanian Olympic Committee have been moved to the Olympic Park "Feti Borova", where the offices of other sports federations are located. The President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, has arrived in Tirana today for the inauguration of these new facilities.

Bach expressed his satisfaction for this visit and praised the progress of sports in Albania, as well as the investments made in this regard. "It is a great pleasure to be here in Albania today in the continuation of the tour of the International Olympic Committee. We are really pleased with the progress that sport in Albania has made in recent years. In all aspects, we see a development in the way of sports and sports for all people, emphasizing the contribution that sport is giving to the whole society for the purpose of health, for the purpose of education, "he said, adding that the future in this field looks optimistic.

"We see extraordinary dynamism, we see a vision for the future of sports in Albania and we are confident that Albania and Albanians and Albanian Olympic athletes can believe in a bright future, because we also see a strong alliance, with respect for joint responsibilities between the government, chaired by the Prime Minister and the National Olympic Committee. During the meeting I had this morning with the Prime Minister, I realized that this is the recipe for success for people and sports in Albania. So you are seeing me as a very happy person that I am here today and an even happier person as I see that sport in Albania is flourishing in such an extraordinary way, "said the President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach.

On his part, Prime Minister Rama praised the visit of President Bach to Albania and the support given by the International Olympic Committee for projects in the field of sports in Albania.

"It is a privilege for us to have the President of the International Olympic Community here today. There is no need to make presentations. It is a visit of extraordinary importance and we are very pleased that today we shared with the president some first results of the process of re-establishing the Olympic movement in schools that has just taken the first important step and we will continue to take other steps, in order to have sports teams in all schools of the country, in order to have sports championships between schools, in order to establish an important and missing base for many years and to have from this movement, athletes who to then climb other ladders and why not go all the way to the Olympics. But what is important is that we have this sports movement to give children the opportunity to disconnect from computers, from the virtual world of smartphones and socialize in the real world of sports activity. All are useful, but life without sport and especially a childhood without sport is a vulnerable childhood. We are very pleased that President Bach and his team not only appreciated what we have done, but also felt involved in this project and will support us with the great knowledge that the Olympic Committee has, with the experts to keep throwing other steps. We also talked about the new Olympic Village as well as some other projects, but these are things that belong to the future. Today we are here to attend some small but meaningful activities of what I said a little above.

"Feti Borova" Olympic Park was built by the Municipality of Tirana and in 2017 opened its doors to host the largest sports activities in the country. The complex is built with two buildings that include all the Olympic federations, the respective training gyms and the large handball hall, where the national basketball and volleyball events are organized.
