Croatia has eliminated Japan, going to the quarterfinals of the World Cup.
Decisive in this challenge were the 11-meter kicks, where the Croatians were more accurate, while Japan lost three such in front of goalkeeper Livakovic.
Both teams were careful not to lose the challenge, which in the regular 90 minutes ended in a 1-1 draw. Even the extra 30 minutes did not change the result of the match and the teams had to decide the winner from the penalty spot.
In the quarterfinals, Croatia will face the winner of the Brazil-South Korea match.
