Djokovic speaks after gaining the right to stay in Australia
Novak Djokovic reacted after the Melbourne tribunal overturned the Australian government's decision denying the Serbian tennis player the right to enter their country as long as he was not vaccinated.
"I am happy and proud that the court annulled the decision to deport me. Despite everything that happened, I want to stay and compete to win the Australian Open. I am totally focused on this goal. "I came here to play in one of the most important tournaments in front of these wonderful fans", said among others Djokovic.
Djokovic's lawyers presented a buffer to the court confirming that Djokovic had been affected by COVID-19 on December 16, in which case he could not be vaccinated within 6 months. Despite this decision by the court, the Australian authorities do not intend to surrender as they will appeal this decision.
