Tourism growing even in autumn, in October 9.3% more foreigners
Tourism has returned to a faster growth in autumn where foreigners in October were 9.3 percent more than October of the previous year. After a weaker summer growth, as expected by tour operators, the last months of the year are compensating for the chaotic season we left behind.
The official data on the movement of citizens published by the Institute of Statistics show that during the month of October 2024, 1,382,481 Albanian and foreign citizens entered the territory of the Republic of Albania.
This indicator has increased by 9.6%, compared to October 2023. 1,336,717 Albanian citizens and foreigners have left the territory of the Republic of Albania, marking an increase of 10.8%, compared to the same period of the previous year.
"In October 2024, the number of Albanian citizens who entered the Albanian territory is 620,845, experiencing an increase of 9.9%, compared to October 2023. The number of foreign citizens who entered the Albanian territory is 761,636. This number has increased by 9.3%, compared to the same period of 2023.
In the month of October 2024, 624,227 Albanian citizens are counted to have left the territory of Albania, marking an increase of 12.0%, compared to October 2023. The exits of foreign citizens from the territory of Albania during the month of October 2024 are 712,490. Compared to the same period a year ago, this indicator has increased by 9.8%", INSTAT estimates.
In October 2024, 94% of the arrivals of foreign nationals in Albania are from the European region. Southern Europe accounts for 71% of the arrivals of foreign nationals from the European continent, followed by Western Europe with 13%.
Tour operators estimate that November and December are also expected to have a positive trend of foreign visitors. This is related to the fact that Albania continues to remain a trending and interesting destination, while the prices outside the summer season are preferential and make it economical.
Similarly, the alternation between historical destinations but also the coast and the nature of the North make Albania a destination of interest for organized groups as well as for individuals. Mainly in the fall, according to tour operators, the interest has continued to remain in the cultural and historical aspects, but thanks to the good weather, this fall has caused the coastal destinations to remain enlivened by visitors in an atypical period.
