The Minister of Culture in Ukraine saw 'Emily in Paris' and is not happy at all
The Minister of Culture of Ukraine has seen the Netflix series "Emily in Paris" and is not happy at all. Oleksandr Tkachenko shared his disappointment with the offensive way in which Petra, a Ukrainian character, is portrayed in the second season of the series, which premiered in December.
Emily from Chicago enrolls in a French class, where she meets Petra, played by Daria Panchenko.
However, Petra makes a bad impression on Emily when she steals clothes from a local mall and encourages her to do the same.
'Unacceptable' and 'offensive', this is how she considers this portrayal of Petra, as a girl from Ukraine, the Minister of Culture.
Tkachenko condemned history.
In "Emily in Paris" we have a cartoon of a Ukrainian woman, which is unacceptable. On the other hand, it is also offensive. "Will Ukrainians be seen as such abroad?" He wrote on social media.
The Minister says that Netflix has always made good Ukraine, it has shot many scenes in Kiev, but in this case something went wrong.
CNN on the other hand has contacted Netflix for a response but has not yet received a response.
