This was the moment Miley Cyrus realized her marriage to Liam Hemsworth wasn't working
Miley Cyrus has spoken openly about her marriage with ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.
After talking about moments in her career that were once considered controversial on 'Used to Be Young' she took a moment to speak calmly about something she called really serious.
In a TikTok posted yesterday, the singer revealed when she realized her marriage to the Australian actor was over.
The pop star explained that she was at the Glastonbury music festival in June 2019 when she found out.
She explained that although they had been together since 2010, their wedding took place in December 2018 after the California wildfires of November 2018 destroyed their home. "My and Liam's decision to get married certainly came from love first, because we had 10 years together, but also from the trauma we suffered and we just tried to rebuild our lives as soon as we could," she said.
"The day of the show [Glastonbury] was the day I decided that this relationship wasn't going to work in my life anymore. That was another moment where I realized that the work, the performance, the character came first," she added candidly. "I think that's why it's so important to me now that it's not like that - that the man comes first," he continued.
A few months after Cyrus' performance at Glastonbury, Hemsworth filed for divorce in August 2019, and the two eventually reached an official settlement in early 2020.
