Hailey Bieber blames birth control pills for the stroke she suffered

Hailey Bieber is talking about what led her to her hospitalization last month for a blood clot in the brain and subsequent mini-strokes. In a video posted on her YouTube channel, Bieber revealed that the use of birth control pills leads to several health conditions, one of which is blood clotting.

"I had just started taking the pills, which I should never have taken, because I am someone who suffers from migraines anyway. And I just did not talk to my doctors about it. "But if you suffer from migraines and take pills, you have an even better chance of suffering a stroke," she said.

In fact estrogen-containing pills are not the only form of birth control. Numerous studies have found that progesterone pills alone do not increase the risk of having a stroke. Similarly, the arm injection, once every six months, contains only progesterone. All of these are safe options.

According to the American Migraine Foundation, some oral contraceptives can have potential and dangerous side effects for women suffering from migraines. For these women, birth control pills may increase their risk for stroke and cardiovascular disease, depending on their personal history. They may also be at higher risk of venous thrombosis or blood clots.
